Biblical Separttion
Text: II Corinthians 6:11 - 7:1
In our study of this passage we will look at four areas of separation:
1. The Corinthians' separation from Paul. (6:11-13)
2. The believer's need to separate from error. (6:14, 17)
3. The argument for separation. (6:14-18)
4. A commitment to holiness. (7:1)
I. THE BELIEVER'S NEED TO SEPARATE FROM ERROR (6:14a, 17)
Four Direct Commnads
A. "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers" (v. 14a)
1. The Principal: Deuteronomy 22:9-11
2. There is no harmony when you combine opposites.
3. Cp. Lev. 19:19; Psalm 1:1; Proverbs 4:14; 24:1; II John 1:10-11
B. "Come out from among them" (v. 17a)
1. The Principle: Isaiah 52:11
2. There was to be NO DELAY!
3. Cp. Rev. 18:4; I Timothy 5:22b
C. "Be ye separate" (v. 17b)
1. The Concept: Put up fences. Mark boundaries.
2. Cp. Ephesians 5:6-8
D. "Touch not the unclean" (v. 17c.)
1.The Concept: Stop doing what you ARE doing!
2. Cp. I Thessalonians 5:22
Conclusion: " Be ye HOLY, for I am HOLY." (I Peter 1:15-16)
